RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to sign Amendment No. 2 to the Agreement with Biomed PRN, to provide biomedical equipment certification, testing and maintenance services, to extend the term from June 30, 2013 to June 30, 2014 and to increase the amount by $26,760 for a revised total not to exceed $107,040.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
In January 2009, the Monterey County Health Department, Clinic Services Bureau (Clinic Services) released a Request for Proposal for biomedical equipment certifying, testing and maintenance services. Biomed PRN was awarded a two year contract in June 2010, for a total amount of $53,520 ($26,760 annually), with an option to extend the agreement for two additional one year periods.

The agreement was amended in June 2012, to extend the term for an additional one year period of June 29, 2010 to June 30, 2013 and to not exceed the total amount of $80,280. Clinic Services and the contractor wish to amend the agreement to extend the term for one final year, to June 30 2014, and a total amount not to exceed $107,040.

Biomed PRN technicians ensure reliable diagnostic and therapeutic tools are available for patients by performing testing, calibration, maintenance and repair to the hundreds of pieces of medical equipment located at the seven clinics operated by the County Health Department.
