RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution:

a. Accepting the Certificate of Completion for construction of the 1412 Natividad Rd, B-Wing Window Replacement, Project No. 8531, Bid Package No. 10331, performed by Legg, Inc.; and

b. Authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the 1412 Natividad Rd, B-Wing Window Replacement, Project No. 8531, Bid Package No. 10331, performed by Legg, Inc.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On January 10, 2012, the Board of Supervisors awarded a contract to Legg, Inc. for construction of the 1412 Natividad Rd, B-Wing Window Replacement, Project No. 8531, Bid Package No. 10331 (Project), at the Adult Detention Facility in the total amount of $161,000. Measurements and ordering of the security windows began in March 2012; materials were received in September. On September 24, 2012, construction began to replace the existing security windows in B-Wing. The County approved minor changes in the contract work, optioning for upgraded security glass and directing the contractor to hire a qualified subcontractor for the proper handling and disposal of the windows as hazardous construction material. The County also deducted the cost to reinstall the existing outer security screening as the greater security afforded by the new window assemblies made reinstalling the old screens unnecessary.
