Title: a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services, or his designee, to sign Amendment #1 to PSA #942 with Shelter Outreach Plus adding $20,000 to expand homeless services in Monterey County, increasing the total contract amount to $118,551; and b. RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services, or his designee, to sign Amendment #1 to PSA #942 with Shelter Outreach Plus adding $20,000 to expand homeless services in Monterey County, increasing the total contract amount to $118,551; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services, or his designee, to sign up to (3) amendments to this agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

SUMMAR/DISCUSSION:
Shelter Outreach Plus operates two (2) emergency shelters in Monterey County, one in Salinas and one in Seaside. The shelters offer women and children safety and assistance as they begin the rehabilitative process necessary to break the cycle of domestic violence and/or homelessness. A 32-bed facility in Salinas and an 18-bed home in Seaside provide 24-hour, year-round shelter for families with children, and single women. Services also include family and individual counseling, case management, and employment services contributing to the goal of long-term housing. The additional one-time-only funding from Community Services Block Grant is being allocated to Shelter Outreach Plus to increase bed capacity at the Salinas Shelter and maintain staffing levels.
