Adopt a resolution authorizing the County Administrative Officer to execute a Proposition 64 grant agreement with the Board of State and Community Corrections to receive grant funding in the amount of $996,545 to improve health outcomes through integrated county-wide initiatives utilizing three project purpose areas associated with the implementation of the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act: 1) youth development and prevention; 2) public health; and 3) public safety with an overarching goal to educate on the risks of cannabis consumption and illicit market products.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
1) Adopt a resolution authorizing the County Administrative Officer to execute a Proposition 64 grant agreement with the Board of State and Community Corrections to receive grant funding in the amount of $996,545 to improve health outcomes through integrated county-wide initiatives utilizing three project purpose areas associated with the implementation of the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act: 1) youth development and prevention; 2) public health; and 3) public safety with an overarching goal to educate on the risks of cannabis consumption and illicit market products; and
2) Provide direction to staff as appropriate.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Cannabis Program informed the Cannabis Standing Committee on April 1, 2020 of its intent to make an application to the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) and the Proposition 64 Public Health & Safety Grant Executive Steering Committee for consideration of grant funds. The purpose of the grant funds is to assist local governments with law enforcement, fire protection, or other local programming to address public health and safety associated with the implementation of the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA).
