RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Purchasing Manager for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to execute a purchase order with First Alarm Security & Patrol Inc. from the County Master Agreement (MA*46) for Security Services at NMC in an amount not to exceed $1,100,000 for the period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Please add an addendum applicable to Natividad Medical Center to the County Master Agreement (MA*46) for First Alarm Security & Patrol, Inc. to continue to provide security guard services in accordance with California Penal Code and California Business and Professional Code guidelines.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Interior foot patrol of several buildings consisting of over 600,000 square feet of building space
Exterior vehicle patrol
Property supervision
Investigation of suspicious activity
Parking enforcement
Staffing of the Emergency Department on a 24/7 basis,
Fire watches
Visitor control
Patrol of high risk areas such as inpatient and outpatient mental health areas
Monitoring of closed circuit television (CCTV) surveillance systems
Staffing dedicated to patients with certain mental health issues.
