RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks Commission is asked to receive a report of the Management/Concession Agreements associated with County Parks, and provide comment or recommendations to staff.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
During the June 5, 2025, Parks Commission meeting, Commissioner Shawne Ellerbee requested a report on Management and Concession Agreements associated with County Parks.
The County of Monterey currently has agreements for operating and managing four (4) Parks assets: (1) Concession Agreement with Friends of Laguna Seca for Laguna Seca Recreation Area; (2) Operation and Management Agreement with Lake Nacimiento Hospitality LLC (dba ExplorUS) for the Lake Nacimiento Resort; (3) Manzanita County Park Sports Complex Concession Agreement with North County Youth Recreation Association and; (4) Management Agreement for the San Lorenzo Park Agricultural and Rural Life Museum with the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum non-profit organization.
Parks is currently negotiating two agreements; the Manzanita Park Sports Complex and a Maintenance Agreement with the Aromas Eagles for the maintenance of Aromas Town Square Park, located at the corner of Carpenteria Road and Blohm Avenue in Aromas.
