Title
Authorize the Purchasing Manager for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to execute the First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Joel Weinstein MD to provide general surgery services at NMC, extending the Agreement to June 30, 2013 and adding $296,400 for Fiscal Year 2012/2013 for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $592,800 in the aggregate.

Body
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Purchasing Manager for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to execute the First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Joel Weinstein MD to provide general surgery services at NMC, extending the Agreement to June 30, 2013 and adding $296,400 for Fiscal Year 2012/2013 for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $592,800 in the aggregate.

NMC currently has an agreement with Joel Weinstein MD to provide 24 hour general surgery call coverage as scheduled in the emergency department and necessary follow-up to inpatients and outpatients in the specialty clinic. NMC wishes to amend the agreement with Dr. Weinstein to extend the term an additional twelve (12) months in order to continue to provide general surgery services to patients without interruption.

NMC has obtained an independent opinion of fair market value supporting the payment terms of this Agreement. The scope of services and compensation for FY 2012/2013 are the same as FY 2011/2012. The additional $296,400 is equal the total compensation times the projected amount of call coverage that will be provided for the period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.
