RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors authorize the Purchasing Manager for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement (DO2210) with Med Assets Net Revenue Systems LLC for Charge Description Master (CDM) Manager, KnowledgeSource, and Revenue Dashboard Annual Software Services for the MediTech System at NMC, extending the Agreement to June 30, 2013 and adding $56,000 for Fiscal Year (FY) 2012-13 for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $112,000 in the aggregate.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION

NMC generates patient revenue for each patient encounter as determined through the use of a Charge Description Master (CDM) listing all individual rates for service lines, procedures and tests. The CDM is a complex list of several thousand individual charges, billing codes and other technical data that are essential in charging for all patient care rendered in a healthcare setting. It is critical that every licensed healthcare provider who is also approved to provide services to Medicare and Medicaid patients have and maintain a technical resource such as this service, to remain compliant with all regulatory bodies and to deal with additions, and changes in services.

Med Assets has three modules NMC uses to stay compliant with Medicare correct coding regulations.
