Adopt a Resolution Honoring Hermila Mily"
Trevino-Sauceda for her outstanding and
compassionate work on behalf of the
Organizacion en California de Lideres
Campesinas in our community
WHEREAS, Hermila Trevino-Sauceda's passion for helping farm workers in particular
women throughout the State of California is exemplary and as a Co-Founder of Lideres
Campesinas" she has demonstrated her ability and willingness to be at the forefront of dealing
with tough issues such as Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment; and
WHEREAS, Hermila Trevino-Sauceda was born in the State of Washington to an immigrant
and migrant farm worker family. She is the third of ten children and was an agricultural and
migrant worker, before becoming an organizer for the United Farm Workers from 1975 until
1981, and continued volunteering with the organization until 1990; and
WHEREAS, Hermila Trevino-Sauceda was a founder and president of the Coachella Valley
Mujeres Mexicanas" group-a farm worker women's group advocating against the violence
against farm worker women and co-founded the Organiazcibn en California de Lideres
Campesinas in 1992 which has received various national and state awards and recognition for its
innovative trainings, and grassroots outreach model); and
WHEREAS, Hermila Trevino-Sauceda returned to school in 1991 and obtained her Bachelor's
Degree in Chicano Studies and a Minor in Women's Studies from Cal State Fullerton, and she is
currently working on her Individualized Master's Degree in Rural Development at Antioch
University; and
WHEREAS, Hermila Trevino-Sauceda has developed over the years training curriculums on
issues such as Sexual Assault/Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, Women's Health, Teen
Pregnancy, Leadership Development/History/Culture, Networking and Collaborating with
