Resolution of Proclamation Honoring Sagrario Perea de Perez
upon her selection as one of six Outstanding Women of
Monterey County for 2010
Whereas, Sagrario Perea de Perez has been selected by the Monterey County Commission on the
Status of Women as one of six Outstanding Women in Monterey County for 2010; and
Whereas, Sagrario Perea de Perez worked in the agriculture industry for over 25 years, even after
suffering a work-related injury that left her disabled while she continued to support her fellow workers,
taking up the mantle of community activist to educate the agriculture industries' workers about their
rights; and
Whereas, Sagrario Perea de Perez reached out to the migrant population encouraging education
especially for women, she helped improve the status of women in the underserved populations through
her refusal to accept anything less than equality while fighting discrimination; and
Whereas, Sagrario Perea de Perez has been the past president of the Chualar school council and also
served as vice-president of the Migrant Education Program, Sagrario is also a member of the Gonzales
High School bilingual education board and Migrant Education Region Eighteen; and
Whereas, Sagrario Perea de Perez has a long list of accomplishments including advocating for access
to health clinics for low-income migrant workers and others with limited resources, she has also received
many accolades for her continued work to improve the quality of life of those in her community proving
that Sagrario Perea de Perez is certainly an Outstanding Woman of Monterey County.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Monterey County Board of Supervisors and all
citizens therefore hereby congratulate Sagrario Perea de Perez on her selection as one of six
Outstanding Women in Monterey County for 2010 and wishes her health, happiness,...
