Upon motion of Supervisor Potter, seconded by Supervisor Salinas, and carried by those
members present, the Board hereby;
a. Accepted the recommendation of the Monterey County Fish and Game Commission to
award six 6) funding grants; and
b. Approved the distribution of Fish and Game grant funds in the amount of $21,475 for
the following specified grant projects for Fiscal Year 2010 2011:
South County Sportsman $3,000
Rancho Cielo $1,975
Monterey Bay Salmon Trout Project $8,000
Freedom II $5,000
Hunter Supply Youth Shoot $2,000
CalTip $1,500

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Accept the recommendation of the Monterey County Fish and Game Commission to
award six 6) funding grants; and
b. Approve the distribution of Fish and Game grant funds in the amount of $21,475 for
the following specified grant projects for Fiscal Year 2010 2011:
South County Sportsman $3,000
Rancho Cielo $1,975
Monterey Bay Salmon Trout Project $8,000
Freedom II $5,000
Hunter Supply Youth Shoot $2,000
CalTip $1,500

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION
The Monterey County Fish and Game Commission is recommending that the Board of
Supervisors approve six 6) Fish and Game Grant projects for Fiscal Year 2010 2011. This
action is consistent with Board Resolution 81-239, which states that all expenditures using
County Fish and Game funds must be approved by the Board of Supervisors.
The six grant applications were legally placed on the Monterey County Fish and Game
Commission's agenda for review on April 12, 2011. The applicants were given an opportunity to
present their projects at the Commission meeting on February 8, 2011 and also to provide
subsequent information to assure a complete application.
All grant projects were reviewed for consistency with California State Fish and Game Code
criteria. Each applicant has agreed to the terms and conditions of the grant agreement for use of
Fish and Game propagation funds. By majority vote, the Commission recommended that the
Board of Supervisors approve the following grants in the amounts shown below:
1. South County Sportsmans $3,000
Project: Fish Derby for Kids
2. Rancho Cielo $1,975
Project: Fishing Lessons, Equipment and Derbies for at Risk Youth

County Counsel has reviewed and concurs with this recommendation.
FINANCING
Sufficient funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2010 11 budget, Appropriation Unit PAR003
for Unit 8155 to award the grants recommended by the Commission. There is no impact to
General Fund Contribution as a result of this action.
