RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) for Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 521 Units F, H, J & K for the period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016.
SUMMARY /DISCUSSION:
On October 14, 2013, SEIU Local 521 Units F, H, J & K ratified Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the County of Monterey. The terms and conditions of the MOU are now submitted for approval.
The SEIU Local 521 provides for employee contributions to CalPERS and other changes to wages and benefits.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The SEIU Local 521 Units F, H, J & K members and staff contributed to the development of the MOUs as presented.
FINANCING:
The annualized cost for the SEIU Local 521 agreement is $522,594 in FY 2013-14, $3,755,448 in FY 2014-15 and $5,174,714 in FY 2015-16 for departments countywide. The cumulative impact of the MOUs totals $9,452,756 by FY 2015-16. The costs for FY 2013-14 and FY 2014-15 were included in the FY 2014-15 Adopted Budget.
