Title: a. RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and amend the Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15 Sheriff's Office Budget to add one (1) FTE Deputy Sheriff-Operations in the Investigations Division Agricultural Crime Unit, 001-2300-SHE001-8245 effective July 1, 2014;
b. Approve and authorize to increase appropriations and revenues in Fund 001 General Fund and Fund 022 Local Revenue Fund 2011 in the amount of $155,000 (4/5th votes required); and
c. Approve and authorize the County Administrative Office and Auditor-Controller to incorporate approved position changes and to increase appropriations and estimated revenue in the Sheriff's FY 2014-15 Adopted Budget.

SUMMARY:
The Sheriff's Office is requesting the Board to restore one grant funded Deputy Sheriff-Operations position in Agricultural (Ag) Crime Unit. The position was eliminated during the year of 2008 to maintain the cost of the program within grant allocated funding. The Sheriff's Office is responsible for the investigation of Agricultural related crimes in the unincorporated areas of Monterey County.

DISCUSSION:
