RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors, Approve and Authorize the District Attorney to sign, submit and execute grant applications for existing programs, including any extensions or amendments thereof under similar terms, for continued funding for FY 2015-16 from Federal and State agencies for the District Attorney's Office Victim Assistance Unit and other Prosecution Programs.

SUMMARY:
The Monterey County District Attorney's Office relies on a variety of Federal and State grants to provide a portion of the financial support required by the Department for the services it provides in the County. Funding for these programs is expected to continue in FY 2015-16. The Federal and State agencies responsible for these grants require the recipient departments to submit an application to renew funding for the upcoming fiscal year even though there is an established relationship between the County and the funding agency in the current fiscal year. This is the twelfth year in which this overall approval practice is being utilized to streamline the grant application and acceptance process. The specific grants and administering State agencies for which this authorization is being requested are as follows:
Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board (VCGCB)
Victim Witness Assistance Program (Office of Emergency Services - OES)
Automobile Insurance Fraud Prosecution Program (Department of Insurance - DOI)
Workers Compensation Fraud Prosecution Program (DOI)
