RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve the Area Agency on Aging 2015-16 Area Plan Update; and
b. Authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to sign the Area Plan Transmittal Letter.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The 2015-2016 Area Plan Update complies with Federal and State requirements. It was developed in collaboration with current service providers under contract with the Area Agency on Aging (AAA). This Area Plan Update provides adjusted estimates for services needed in the next fiscal year for seniors and adults with disabilities in Monterey County. Senior services include home delivered meals, congregate meals, nutrition education, legal assistance, caregiver support, oversight of long-term care facilities, and health insurance counseling. A Public Hearing was held on April 16, 2015 at the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council Meeting in Salinas.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council approved the 2015-16 Area Plan Update on April 24, 2015.
FINANCING:
There is no fiscal impact to the County General Fund associated with receiving or approving the 2015-16 Area Plan Update.
