RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

Approve and authorize the Auditor-Controller to increase FY2015-16 appropriations by $499,972 in Parks Fund 001 Department 7500 Appropriation PAR001 Unit 8146 Object  7521 financed by the release of $499,972 from the Laguna Seca Track Maintenance and Repairs Assignment - Fund 001 Balance Sheet Account 3129 (4/5 vote required).

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Four major improvement projects at Laguna Seca Track are scheduled to commence in early FY2015-16, financed by the Laguna Seca Track Maintenance and Repairs Assignment.  Three of these projects totaling $360,000 are listed as FY2015-16 projects in the County’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Five-Year Plan:

-                     Replace Drinking Water Well at Laguna Seca                     $130,000

-                     Paddock Classroom Replacement at Laguna Seca                      $120,000

-                     Replace Turn Ten Shower Building at Laguna Seca                     $110,000

 

The fourth project is to develop geological investigation, analysis and engineered design alternatives for the lower sloped area adjacent to and below Turn 6 of the racetrack at Laguna Seca Recreation Area, and down slope onto Bureau of Land Management property.  Pursuant to a Request for Proposal (RFP#10483), staff is proposing selection of Cotton Shires and Associates, Inc.  An agreement in the amount of $139,972 will be presented to the Board of Supervisors for approval in July 2015.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

This report was received by the Board of Supervisor’s Budget Committee on June 25, 2015.

 

FINANCING:

The release of $499,972 from the Laguna Seca Track Maintenance and Repairs Assignment - Fund 001 Balance Sheet Account 3129 will reduce the balance in the account to $2,563,822.
