RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Budget Committee receive a Quarterly Budget and Schedule Status Report on the Jail Housing Addition, Project 8819 (Project), for the period ending June 30, 2015.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Key schedule components and budget status are summarized below.

Budget and Schedule: The overall Project is on budget. Due to extended durations for completion of the Environmental Impact Report, resolving financial issues with the State and storm drainage issues with Carr Lake, the County staff has been requested to exhaust additional hours to complete these issues. The additional staff time has been offset with contingency dollars. Preliminary Plan (Design Development) documents have been received by the County for final review. The County submitted the Preliminary Plans to the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) for review on April 13, 2015. State Public Works Board (SPWB) approval is anticipated in August 2015. Construction is scheduled to start in summer 2016.

Design: Architect Lionakis, Inc. held multiple meetings with the Office of the Sheriff and Resource Management Agency - Public Works (RMA - PW) in the development of the Preliminary Plans for the Project. Lionakis, Inc. is currently resolving minor design issues with the State Fire Marshal. The Project's Preliminary Plan Phase is on schedule. Overall, Design is 35 percent complete and awaits SPWB approval to proceed with construction documents on August 17, 2016. Bid documents will be taken to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) for approval on May 17, 2016.

State Milestones: The next milestone is County submittal to SPWB for approval of Construction Documents and to issue for bidding in mid - June 2016.
