Title: a. Authorize the District Attorney to submit a joint grant application with the City of Salinas to the Federal Government under the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for FY 2015-16 in the amount of $14,807.00 for the County share of the grant, to purchase computer equipment and software. RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Authorize the District Attorney to submit a joint grant application with the City of Salinas to the Federal Government under the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for FY 2015-16 in the amount of $14,807.00 for the County share of the grant, to purchase computer equipment and software. No cash match is required; and

b. Authorize the County Administrative Officer or his designee to sign a Memorandum of Agreement as well as the joint application and all related documentation on behalf of the County for the JAG grant application with the City of Salinas.

SUMMARY:
The Monterey County District Attorney's Office has the opportunity to continue to obtain direct grant funds under the U.S. Office of Justice Planning, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants (JAG) Program. This would be the second year of applications and receipt of such funding if the grant is approved. This is an opportunity to continue to receive funds for the purchase of new computers and software, which funding is not otherwise available in the departments approved budget. No matching funds are required for acceptance of this grant funding.
