Report

RECOMMENDATION:

a. Approve and authorize the Contracts / Purchasing Officer to sign a Radio Communication Site Lease Agreement with Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA) for a five (5) year term in an amount not to exceed $1.00 per year; and

b. Authorize the Director of Emergency Communications Department to approve three (3) additional five (5) year terms.

SUMMARY / DISCUSSION:

This License Agreement will provide for the site lease and construction of a tower and shelter for radio communications at the SVSWA Lewis Road Landfill Site to provide public safety radio communications for public safety communications in North Monterey County.  This radio communications site will be part of the Monterey County NGEN Public Safety Radio System.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The County of Monterey Information Technology Department and, Risk Management and County Counsel have reviewed the Lease Agreement.  The County of Monterey Planning Commission issued the Use Permit (PLN140633) for the project on December 10, 2014.

FINANCING:

The funds for this contract are included in the Emergency Communications Department annual budget.
