RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee of the Board of Supervisors:
Receive an oral report providing an update on Monterey County Health Department's (MCHD) 2011-2015 Strategic Plan implementation and national public health accreditation process.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Board of Supervisors approved the MCHD's 2011-2015 Strategic Plan in December of 2011. This oral report will summarize the Strategic Plan Accomplishments Report for Fiscal Year 2014-15, plans for revisiting and updating the Strategic Plan, and the progress made towards national public health accreditation.
Activities across MCHD are occurring as part of submitting documents in October 2015 for review by the National Public Health Accreditation Board. The National Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) has accepted the Health Department's submitted pre-requisites (Community Health Assessment, Community Health Improvement Plan, and Department Strategic Plan). Staff has developed procedures and plans related to specific measures and are collecting documents to demonstrate MCHD compliance with all measures. Recently developed procedures and plans include a Workforce Development Plan, an Employee Recognition Plan, a Communication Plan, a Performance Management and QI Plan, and a Health Equity Policy.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
MCHD has engaged numerous County departments and community-based organizations for participation in strategic plan implementation activities. County Departments include Resource Management Agency, Natividad Medical Center, Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs, Planning, Equal Opportunity Office, and Learning and Development Network.
