RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive an oral report from the Monterey County Health Department’s Clinic Services Director on the status of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On September 15, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved and authorized the Director of Health to implement a Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured in the amount of $500,000 to cover the cost of pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology services for Monterey County eligible uninsured residents. At the meeting, the Health Department’s Clinic Services Director was requested to return to update the Board of Supervisors regarding the rollout and current enrollment of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured. The Project officially started on November 1, 2015. This oral presentation will highlight the following:
• Announcement and publicity of start of the Project
• Summary of Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action (COPA) community outreach efforts
• Status of enrollment:
A. Number of participants and associated demographics
B. Cost of project to date
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
COPA (Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action) has been working with the Health Department with outreach activities.
FINANCING:
The Board of Supervisors approved an increase in appropriations and General Fund contribution in the amount of $500,000 to cover the cost of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured.
As of January 13, 2016, the total cost expended for the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured is $12,406.
