RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Request the Auditor-Controller transfer $23,080 from the Agricultural Commissioner’s budget 2810, unit 8001, AGR001 to Monterey County Administrative Office’s Vehicle Assessment Management Program, Fleet Department’s budget 1050, unit 8453, CAO026 for the purchase of a Weights and Measures Straddle Weight Mover.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Agricultural Commissioner’s existing straddle weight mover must be replaced due to age and obsolescence. This equipment picks up and moves 1,000-pound weights used to certify truck and cattle scales. The replacement will have improved steering and brakes and will be safer and more efficient.
Due to the amount of time necessary to fabricate this equipment, the Agricultural Commissioner wishes to transfer the funds to Fleet in FY 2015-16 in order to ensure funds are available when the straddle weight mover arrives. The Budget Committee approved this action on April 27, 2016.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The County Administrative Office and Fleet have approved the proposed transfer.
FINANCING:
The proposed action has no impact on the General Fund.
