RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive a written report from the Monterey County Health Department's Clinic Services Director on the status of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On September 15, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved and authorized the Director of Health to implement a Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured in the amount of $500,000 to cover the cost of pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology services for Monterey County eligible uninsured residents. At the meeting, the Health Department's Clinic Services Director was requested to return to update the Board of Supervisors regarding the rollout and current enrollment of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured. The Project officially started on
November 1, 2015 and the Clinic Services Bureau Director provided an update to the Board of Supervisors on February 2, 2016. The attached report highlights the following:
Status of enrollment:
a. Number of participants and associated demographics
b. Cost of project to date
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
COPA (Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action) has been working with the Health Department with outreach activities. County Counsel has reviewed and approved this report.
FINANCING:
The Board of Supervisors approved an increase in appropriations and General Fund contribution in the amount of $500,000 to cover the cost of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured in Fiscal Year 2015-16. As of April 25, 2016, the total cost expended for the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured is $35,793.
