RECOMMENDATION:
t is recommended that the Alternative Energy and Environment (AEE) Committee:
a. Receive a status report on the proposed Go Green! Monterey County (GGMC) Work Plan.
b. Provide direction to staff as appropriate.

SUMMARY:
In March 2016, the AEE Committee received an introduction and update to the GGMC Program. They were presented information about three overall program areas that the GGMC Program will focus on. The three program areas are as follows:

1. Resource Conservation, Climate Adaptation, and Pollution Reductions
2. Sustainability Awareness
3. Community Outreach and Education

The purpose of this report is to provide the AEE Committee with an update on the progress of the GGMC proposed Work Plan, present on the outcomes of the Go Green! Technical Advisory (GGTA) Committee, and to provide the AEE Committee a review of the current list of countywide sustainable projects.

DISCUSSION:
The GGMC Program has continued the process of conducting internal interviews to obtain input for the Work Plan. In March 2016, the GGMC Program held the first GGTA Committee meeting. This meeting allowed program staff to receive updates from various county departments on past and current sustainability projects. Countywide sustainability projects listed in the GGMC Work Plan includes projects being led by the following departments: Agricultural Commissioner, CAO Contracts and Purchasing and Fleet, Health, Information Technology, Natividad Medical Center (NMC), Parks, and the Resource Management Agency (RMA). See Attachment A. In addition, these department staff provided suggestions for future sustainability projects which may be considered for inclusion in the program.
