a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Alisal Unified School District for $101,447 to provide congregate meals to seniors in Salinas for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, including Mutual Indemnification, Exhibit I; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to the agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($10,144) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Alisal Unified School District for $101,447 to provide congregate meals to seniors in Salinas for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, including Mutual Indemnification, Exhibit I; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to the agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($10,144) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Alisal Unified School District (Alisal USD) is dedicated to promoting the physical, social, and personal well-being and independence of seniors in Salinas. This agreement provides congregate meals to seniors living in the Salinas area. Congregate meals are meals offered in areas where seniors congregate, such as senior centers. The three (3) Salinas elderly nutrition program dining sites are the Firehouse Community Center, Los Abuelitos CHISPA Senior Housing, and Sherwood Villages CHISPA Senior Housing. It is anticipated that 20,000 meals will be served at the congregate meal sites.
