RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the District Attorney to accept and expend a grant for the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board Grant, in the amount of $54,586.00, for the period of July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.
b. Approve and authorize the District Attorney to accept and expend a grant in the amount of $54,586.00 for the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, and an amount of $54,586.00 for the period of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, should the parties agree to an amendment as allowed under the provisions of the grant agreement.

SUMMARY:
The Monterey County District Attorney's Office relies on a variety of Federal and State grants to provide a portion of the financial support required by the Department for the services it provides in the County. One of these programs is the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board, which is expected to continue in FY 2016-17. The Grant program requires the County recipient agency to submit an application to renew funding for the upcoming fiscal year even though there is an established relationship between the County and the funding agency in the current fiscal year. This is the 20th year in which the Grant funding for this program has been utilized by Monterey County.
