Receive a status report on the Interlake Tunnel and Spillway Modification Projects ("Project").

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Supervisors:

Receive a status report on the Interlake Tunnel and Spillway Modification Projects ("Project").

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Subsequent to the June 21, 2016 written status report to the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Supervisors the following has been completed:

1. AB 1585 passed the Assembly and moved to the Senate. The bill must be passed by the Senate no later than August 31st, after which it will move to the Governor's office for signature.
2. A meeting to discuss the Project with tribal representatives was held on June 14th.
3. A Request for Proposal for collecting Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR). LIDAR was released and proposals received. The LiDAR is topographic data being collected to support the environmental clearance of the Interlake Tunnel Project. The areas to be surveyed for collection of LiDAR data include: the alignment of the tunnel conveyance, the rim of San Antonio Reservoir, and the San Antonio River between the San Antonio Dam and the confluence with the Salinas River.
4. A meeting with owners of properties within the proximity of the conceptual tunnel alignment concerns land owners might have related to the construction of the tunnel.
5. Additional computer modeling to simulate additional reservoir and Interlake tunnel alternatives for the project description has been completed and a meeting was held on July 15th.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The County Administrative Office - IGLA and County Counsel have been involved with the continued progress of the Project.

Due to the late submission of this report, the CAO Budget and Analysis division was not provided adequate time to review for potential fiscal, organizational, policy or other implications to the County of Monterey.
