a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with the Regents of the University of California, U.C. Davis Extension for $191,970 for the provision of staff training for the period August 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, including non-standard mutual indemnity; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to this agreement, where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($19,197) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with the Regents of the University of California, U.C. Davis Extension for $191,970 for the provision of staff training for the period August 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, including non-standard mutual indemnity; and

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Under this contract, U.C. Davis Extension will provide the Aging and CalWORKs Employment Services, Community Benefits, Administrative Services and Human Resources Branches with training to enhance worker skills essential for providing quality services to the community. The training topics include but are not limited to Adult Services and In-Home Supportive Services, Case Management, Communication and Job Management, Eligibility, Employment Services and Welfare to Work, Fiscal Workshops, Fraud Investigation Workshops, Leadership, Management and Supervision, Support Staff Workshops and Training for Trainers.
