Title
Approve and Authorize the District Attorney to sign and submit a Grant Application for the Unserved/Underserved Child and Youth Advocacy (XY) Program Grant, for FY 2016-17 from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), for the local Office of the District Attorney Victim Witness Services Program.

Report
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and Authorize the District Attorney to sign and submit a Grant Application for the Unserved/Underserved Child and Youth Advocacy (XY) Program Grant, for FY 2016-17 from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), for the local Office of the District Attorney Victim Witness Services Program.

SUMMARY:
The Monterey County District Attorney's Office relies on a variety of Federal and State grants to provide a portion of the financial support required by the Department for the services it provides in the County. One of these programs is the local Victim Witness Services Program. This new grant would provide new funding for advocacy and support services to unserved/underserved child and youth victims of a crime in the South County.
DISCUSSION:
Approval of the recommended action will allow the District Attorney to submit the approved Board Order as verification of Board approval granting authority to sign the grant application. If the grant is subsequently awarded, funding of approximately $370,000 could be received and additional board action will be presented for approval to modify the existing FY 2016-17 budget, including new positions and direct program support expenditures in support of the grant application.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
No other agency is involved with this request.
FINANCING:
Approval of this request and the receipt of the subject grant will have no new impact on the County General Fund.
