RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a) Approve amended response to the 2015 - 2016 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury Interim Final Report: "Striving for Sustainability"; and
b) Direct the County Administrative Officer to file the approved amended response with the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, County of Monterey, by September 22, 2016.
SUMMARY:
The 2015 - 2016 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury Interim Final Report: "Striving for Sustainability" was issued on June 24, 2016. By law, the Board of Supervisors and elected County officials are required to respond to specific findings and recommendations as directed therein. Within 90 days of report issuance, on or before September 22, 2016, the Board's response must be filed with the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, County of Monterey.
The County Administrative Office prepared the recommended response to the 2015 - 2016 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury Final Report "Striving for Sustainability"; on behalf of the Board of Supervisors. On August 30, 2016, the Board of Supervisors approved the response, requesting additional information, to Grand Jury Interim Final Report "Striving for Sustainability"; and directed staff to return to the Board for final approval. Several members of the 2015 - 2016 Monterey County Civil Grand Jury were present when the Board considered approving the response to the Grand Jury Interim Final Report "Striving for Sustainability".
