a. Approve Amendment No. 2 to the Professional Services Agreement with Justice Works, LLC for support of the Public Defender's case management system, increasing the amount from $33,000 to $58,000, and extending the term for one additional year, through June 30, 2017; and
b. Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to execute Amendment No. 2 to the Agreement and up to three (3) additional amendments of one (1) year each, where additional costs per year do not exceed 10% of the amended contract amount ($5,800), and the amendments do not significantly alter the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a) Approve Amendment No. 2 to the Professional Services Agreement with Justice Works, LLC for support of the Public Defender's case management system, increasing the amount from $33,000 to $58,000, and extending the term for one additional year, through June 30, 2017; and

SUMMARY:
Justice Works, LLC provides ongoing customer support for the Office of the Public Defender's client case management system. This agreement adds $25,000 for FY 2016-17 for a total contract amount of $58,000, over three years.
DISCUSSION:
The Public Defender's Office contracted with Justice Works, LLC, formerly known as "defender Data, LLC", in August 2007, after an exhaustive search for a vendor, in collaboration with the Superior Court, and the County IT and Purchasing Departments. Justice Works provides an internet-based system that replaced an internally developed database that could no longer meet the needs of the County.
