RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive an oral update regarding the city of Salinas Camping Ordinance, approved on September 20, 2016.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Office of the County Administrative Office (CAO) and the Department of Social Services received a copy on the morning of Friday, September 16, 2016 regarding the proposed Camping Ordinance to be presented and considered for adoption by the Salinas City Council at their meeting on September 20, 2016.
The proposed ordinance was shared also with the coalition of Homeless Services Providers and the Health Department were also informed and given copies of the proposed ordinance. These two agencies along with the CAO and Social Services are assessing the impacts of this proposed ordinance which will be presented at the Board of Supervisors Meeting on September 27, 2016.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENTS:
The Department of Social Services, Health Department, and the CAO have been developing collaborations to strengthen homeless services throughout the County.
FINANCING:
There is no impact to the County General Fund with receipt of this report.
