RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors Health and Human Services Committee:
Receive a written report from the Monterey County Health Department's Clinic Services Director on the status of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On September 15, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved and authorized the Director of Health to implement a Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured in the amount of $500,000 to cover the costs of specific pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology services for Monterey County eligible uninsured residents. The Project officially started on November 1, 2015. The attached written report highlights the following:
* Announcement and publicity of start of the Project
* Summary of Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action (COPA) community outreach efforts
* Status of Pilot Project enrollment and expenditures:
1. Number of participants and associated demographics
2. Cost of Project to date

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
COPA (Communities Organized for Relational Power in Action) has been working with the Health Department with outreach activities.

FINANCING:
As of September 16, 2016, the total costs expended for the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured is $74,064. The Board of Supervisors approved an increase in appropriations and General Fund contribution in the amount of $500,000 to cover the cost of the Pilot Project for the Remaining Uninsured in Health Department's Fiscal Year 2015-16 Budget. The Fiscal Year 2016-17 Recommended Budget includes a recommendation to assign up to $450,000 for support of the Pilot Project to provide laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy services to improve health outcomes for remaining uninsured with the final amount to be determined by a reconciliation of unexpended Pilot Project ...
