RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve Agreement to Retroactively Renew the Paramedic Service Provider Agreement with City of Salinas to renew prior agreement for the provision of paramedic services in the County of Monterey retroactive to January 12, 2016 and to extend the agreement on the same terms and conditions to June 30, 2017;
b. Authorize the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency Director to execute the agreement to retroactively renew and extend the Paramedic Service Provider Agreement with the above provider.

SUMMARY:
On November 1, 2011, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors approved and authorized the EMS Director to sign and execute Paramedic Service Provider Agreements with public agencies wishing to provide paramedic services in the County of Monterey. The Paramedic Service Provider Agreement with City of Salinas expired on January 12, 2016. Unfortunately, neither party to the agreement realized the agreements had expired. Accordingly, the parties wish to renew the agreement and extend it through June 30, 2017 to allow time to review and, if needed, revise the agreement to reflect the landscape of our current EMS system.

DISCUSSION:
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency is designated under California law by Monterey County as the local Emergency Medical Services Agency responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the local EMS system throughout Monterey County.
