RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Monterey County Water Board of Supervisors - Budget Committee:

a. Support approving a Budget Amendment for the Monterey County Water Resources Agency's Fiscal Year 2016-17 Adopted Budget for the Bryant Canyon Channel Improvement Project;
b. Support authorizing the Auditor Controller's Office to increase appropriations in the Monterey County Water Resources FY 2016-17 Adopted Budget for the Bryant Canyon Fund 121-9300-8267-WRA011 in the amount of $75,000 financed by the unassigned fund balance in Fund 121-9300-8267-WRA011 (4/5th vote required).

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Zone 8, Fund 121 includes the Bryant Canyon Drainage Area and select facilities within that area. Zone 8 funds are available to maintain the Soledad Storm Drain in accordance with an agreement by the Monterey County Water Resources Agency (MCWRA) with the City of Soledad and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In addition, the funds can be used to operate and maintain the extension of the Storm Drain along Bryant Canyon Road (Bryant Canyon Channel).

The original Soledad Storm Drain was constructed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1974 to reduce flooding in the City of Soledad from water flowing out of Bryant Canyon.
