RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer, or Designee to sign Amendment Number 9 to the non-standard Maintenance Service Supplement between the County of Monterey, Emergency Communications Department and Zetron, Inc., to extend the terms to one additional year, through June 30, 2018, in an amount not to exceed $52,267.06, for the period of July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.
SUMMARY
Monterey County, through its Emergency Communications Department (ECD), contracted with Zetron, Inc. on November 22, 2006 to provide maintenance of ECD's ACOM radio console system used for public safety radio dispatch operations. Since then, the non-standard agreement with Zetron, Inc. has been extended as ECD works to establish a new radio console system.
DISCUSSION:
Zetron Inc.'s current ACOM console system will be decommissioned with the installation of the Next Generation (NGEN)/Harris Radio System currently scheduled for June 2017. Although it was originally thought that Zetron' s contract would not need to be amended to extend it another year, current delays with the NGEN project will require that the contract is extended for a minimum period of one quarter into Fiscal Year 2017/2018 in order to maintain the current ACOM console system as the new Harris radio system is tested and configured to ECD's needs.
This extension of the Maintenance Service Supplement provides for a cancellation clause upon ninety (90) days written notice, which will be invoked as soon as the new system is implemented.
