RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a.                     Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute the Professional Services Agreement with the Southern Monterey County Memorial Hospital, a California nonprofit corporation, d.b.a. George L. Mee Memorial Hospital (MMH) for the provision of physician and administrative services at MMH for the period June 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.

b.                     Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for NMC to sign up to three (3) future amendments to this agreement where the total amendments do not exceed the term by more than twelve (12) months and do not significantly change the scope of work.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

George L. Mee Memorial Hospital is 119 bed hospital with outpatient clinics located in King City and Greenfield serving patients in South Monterey County. MMH desires assistance with physician and coverage services as well medical direction and administrative services. In order to increase patient access to high-quality specialized physicians in southern Monterey County,  NMC will make available a sufficient number qualified physicians to provide family medicine and obstetrics/gynecology services in MMH’s outpatient clinics and one physician to provide physician leadership to oversee and guide implementation of medical staff clinical initiatives. MMH will reimburse NMC the cost of each employee rendering services, there is no cost to this Agreement.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Agreement as to legal form and risk provisions.  Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this Agreement as to fiscal provisions.  The Agreement has also been reviewed and approved by Natividad Medical Center’s Finance Committee and Board of Trustees on May 5, 2017.

 

FINANCING:

There is no cost for this Agreement.  There is no impact to the General Fund.

The services provided in this agreement will increase access to reliable and high quality patient care in South Monterey County which improves the health and quality of life for patients and their families.
