Adopt Resolution to authorizing the Office of Emergency Services to submit an application in the amount of $214,907 and designating County staff positions to authorize and execute documents and applications for the purpose of obtaining financial assistance with the California Office of Emergency Services Fiscal Year 2017 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution authorizing the Office of Emergency Services to submit an application in the amount of $214,907 and designating County staff positions to authorize and execute documents and applications for the purpose of obtaining financial assistance with the California Office of Emergency Services Fiscal Year 2017 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.

SUMMARY:
Designation of staff positions of the Emergency Services Manager, Emergency Services Planner and Auditor-Controller, as Monterey County representatives is required for participation within the California Office of Emergency Services Fiscal Year 2017 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program.
DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Office of Emergency Services will have an opportunity to submit an application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the California Office of Emergency Services for the County of Monterey to participate in the 2017 federally funded program aimed at providing assistance to local government emergency management programs such as supporting activities for administrative tasks necessary to maintain the operational area and emergency management responsibilities of a routine nature and specific activities. This resolution will designate the local government staff representatives having the authority to execute documents and coordinate with the California Office of Emergency Services on behalf of Monterey County, in regard to the EMPG program.
