RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Directors approve and recommend that the Water Resources Agency Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Auditor-Controller to amend the Amend the Water Resources Agency FY 2017-18 Adopted Budget for Fund 116 Administration (116-9300-8267-WRA006) by increasing revenue and appropriations by $500,000 financed by unassigned fund balance in Fund 116 BSA 3101.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Water Resources Agency (Agency) was appropriated $1,000,000 from the California General Fund to assist in the removal of excess vegetation and trash, increase efficiency of instream flow using sediment and vegetation management strategies, and support the development and implementation of long-term management policies for the Salinas River. The California Coastal Conservancy (CCC) was identified as the granting agency. The Agency's Board of Directors approved the grant agreement in May 2017 and the Agency Board of Supervisor's approved it June. The Agency received approval of the work plan from the CCC in August 2017.

The terms of the grant agreement include 5% retention of reimbursement until the project is complete and all work must be completed by January 25, 2019. There are no matching funds required for this grant. The Agency intends to award contracts to as yet unidentified consultants to assist with this project.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
No other Agency involvement was necessary in preparing this report.
