a. Approve and authorize the Monterey County Military & Veteran's Affairs Officer to sign an agreement for $264,000 with San Benito County to provide a part-time Veteran's Services Representative to San Benito County, retroactive to July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020; and
b. Authorize the Monterey County Military & Veteran's Affairs Officer to sign up to three (3) amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($26,400) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Monterey County Military & Veteran's Affairs Officer to sign an agreement for $264,000 with San Benito County to provide a part-time Veteran's Services Representative to San Benito County, retroactive to July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020; and
b. Authorize the Monterey County Military & Veteran's Affairs Officer to sign up to three (3) amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($26,400) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This agreement renews services for veterans between Monterey and San Benito counties through June 30, 2020. Pursuant to the California Military and Veteran's Code, this agreement provides San Benito County with a part-time staff position for Veteran's Affairs. Services will be provided in San Benito County seven hours a day, four days a week.
The State of California Military and Veterans Code requires that the Military and Veterans Affairs Officer shall administer the aid provided for in Chapter 5 of the Military and Veterans Code and investigate all claims, applications, or requests for aid made pursuant to Chapter 5. This position will assist San Benito County veterans in pursuing claims relevant to their rights and privileges under the Military and Veteran's Code.
