Report
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Appoint Charles J. McKee, County Counsel to CSAC-Excess Insurance Authority Board of Directors, thereby rescinding any prior appointments
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
California State Association of Counties-Excess Insurance Authority (CSAC-EIA) is a joint powers agency composed of counties, cities and districts for the purpose of pooling resources to cover liabilities. In other words, they are an insurance risk pool. Monterey County is a member of the pool. As a member, the County may make an appointment to the CSAC-EIA Board of Directors. Because the Risk Management functions of the County are administered in the County Counsel’s Office, it is appropriate that the Board of Supervisor appoint County Counsel, Charles J. McKee, to the CSAC-EIA Board of Directors and rescind all prior appointments.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The CAO concurs in the recommendation.
FINANCING:
There is no cost associated with this action.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
Adoption of this resolution will allow the County to operate more efficiently, and be more responsive to risk related issues.
