RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Directors:
Approve the Monterey County Water Supply Project Mediation Services Cost Sharing Agreement.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey Peninsula Regional Water Authority (aka “Mayors Group”) proposed mediation assistance for numerous parties to find mutually acceptable approaches to address potential impacts of the proposed California-American Water desalination facility on groundwater quantity and quality.
California-American Water Company, City of Marina, Marina Coast Water District, Monterey County Water Resources Agency, Monterey One Water, Monterey Peninsula Regional Water Authority and Monterey Peninsula Water Management District have each been requested to fund $7,000 of the mediation cost.
While within the General Manager’s signature authority, the Monterey County Water Supply Project Mediation Services Cost Sharing Agreement at Section I.D. provides for approval of each party’s governing board.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None
FINANCING:
The Agency FY 17-18 Budget for Fund 113 Countywide has sufficient and available funds to cover this agreement.
