RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt one resolution appointing an alternate director for the Environmental Director position on the Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency Board of Directors.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors appoints a number of primary and alternate directors to the Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (“SVBGSA”), including for the director seat representing environmental interests. Further background on the appointment process is set forth in Attachment A. On September 19, 2017, the Board made the appointments; however, there was no nominee to fill the alternate director position representing environmental interests (Janet Brennan was appointed to the primary director position), and the alternate director position remained unfilled.
Recently, Robin Lee applied for the position. Ms. Lee has been a member of, and active participant on, the SVBGSA’s Advisory Committee. Her application is enclosed as Attachment B, and her appointment is supported by the Environmental Caucus, which makes nominations for the position. It is recommended that the Board adopt the enclosed resolution appointing Ms. Lee to the alternate director position representing environmental interests. A draft resolution is enclosed as Attachment C.
