It is recommended that the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Directors:
Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Professional Services with GEI Consultants, Inc. for no-cost time extension and scope of work clarification; and, authorize the General Manager to execute the Amendment.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
An Agreement with GEI Consultants, Inc. was approved by the Board of Directors in July 2017 to inspect and complete Spillway Condition Assessment reports for the Nacimiento Dam spillway and the San Antonio Dam spillway. The San Antonio Dam Spillway Condition Assessment Report was submitted to the California Department of Water Resources, Division of Dam Safety (DSOD) in May 2018. The Nacimiento Dam Spillway Condition Assessment Report will be submitted to DSOD and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in June 2018. Additional field investigation work by GEI Consultants is anticipated to occur at San Antonio spillway. The original Agreement accounted for some additional investigative work by GEI Consultants at both spillways. Staff proposes to consult with DSOD upon completion of their review of the San Antonio Dam Spillway Condition Assessment Report to clarify the extent of additional field investigation at San Antonio spillway prior to beginning such work. Therefore, the Term of the Agreement is proposed to be extended from June 30, 2018 to June 30, 2019.
Prompted by information gathered during Spillway Condition Assessment work, GEI Consultants was requested to prepare order-of-magnitude cost estimates for various potential work that may be required at both spillways and dams.
