RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Appoint Satinder Kaur, Senior Risk & Benefits Analyst, as the Alternate Director to the CSAC-Excess Insurance Authority Board of Directors.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
California State Association of Counties-Excess Insurance Authority (CSAC-EIA) is a joint powers agency composed of counties, cities and districts for the purpose of pooling resources to cover for liabilities. In other words, they are an insurance risk pool, the largest in the country. Monterey County is a member of the pool. As a member, the County may make director appointments to the CSAC-EIA Board of Directors and an alternate director appointment. On January 30, 2018, this Board appointed County Counsel, Charles J. McKee, as a Director. We now request the Board appoint Satinder Kaur as the Alternate Director.
Satinder Kaur is the Senior Risk & Benefits Analyst for the County. Ms. Kaur has a strong background that would serve the County well on CSAC-EIA. She has a BA from the University of California at Davis, in Communication; is working towards a Master in Health Care Administration from California State University, East Bay; is licensed as a Property & Casualty insurance broker; is working towards a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter certification (CPCU); has a Self-Insured Program certification for Workers Compensation (SIP); is a certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist; has OSHA General Industries training; and previously worked as the Workers Compensation Manager for a large property management company. It is therefore requested that the Board of Supervisor appoint Satinder Kaur as the Alternate Director to the CSAC-EIA Board of Directors.
