RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Directors approve and recommend that the Water Resources Agency Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Auditor-Controller to amend the Agency's FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget for Fund 112 (Zone 1) (112-9300-8484-WRA002) by increasing appropriations in the amount of $200,000 financed by unassigned fund balance 112-3101.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Water Resources Agency (Agency) manages Zone 1containing the Pajaro River Levee. The Agency has identified $200,000 in unbudgeted repairs as a priority for FY 2018-19. The cost of the unfunded maintenance identified as being needed for this year in Fund 112 by proposed activity is:
* Engineering services for culvert repair and maintenance-$25,000 (Estimate)
* Construction services for levee road rehabilitation-$25,000 (Estimate)
* Construction services for replacement/repair of 3 existing culverts-$150,000 (Estimate)

The Pajaro River Levee was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in 1949 to reduce the risk of flooding from the Pajaro River. The Agency is the non-federal sponsor (NSF) responsible for managing and maintaining that portion of the levee project lying within the County of Monterey. The Pajaro Levee Project is currently enrolled in the USACE's PL84-99 program. This is a Federal Emergency Assistance Program where USACE will provide the Agency with material support during an emergency involving the Pajaro Levee.
