RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors Receive a report regarding the Office of Emergency Services’ (OES) procedures on Emergency/Alert Notifications.
SUMMARY:
Emergency Alert/Notifications is a responsibility and part of the mission for the Office of Emergency Services (OES). As seen in the recent Northern California wildfires, the public depends on accurate and timely Emergency/Alert messaging and notifications. This presentation is meant to be informative and allow the Board of Supervisors to have a better understanding of the Emergency/Alert process.
DISCUSSION:
Emergency Alert/Notifications is a responsibility and part of the mission for the Office of Emergency Services. This responsibility is taken very serious and expertise has been developed by OES staff. New and additional technologies are now being utilized that allows for a broader use of the Emergency/Alert software and technology. OES is seeking guidance from the Board of Supervisors as to the level of messaging utilized, to include emergency or non-emergency situations.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The County Administrative Office and the Office of Emergency Services have coordinated this report.

This report has no financial impact on the General Fund.
