RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of Health or Assistant Director of Health to execute an Agreement with Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas (CSVS) for the implementation of a program that links oral health primary care service providers with schools and/or school-based clinics for the period retroactive from April 22, 2019 to June 30, 2023.
b. Approve non-standard insurance provisions in Agreement as recommended by the Director of Health.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On September 27, 2017, Monterey County Health Department (MCHD) received notification as an awardee through Proposition 56, The California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tax Act of 2016 (Prop 56). The goal of the Monterey County Local Oral Health Program (LOHP) is to improve the oral health of Monterey County residents through prevention, education, and organized community efforts. This will in turn reduce the burden of disease, increase access to oral health services for high risk populations and improve the oral health status of Monterey County residents.

The MCHD seeks Board approval of this Agreement with CSVS to promote and facilitate access to dental care for low-income students at schools along with addressing the oral health needs of the community.
