SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Society of Hospital Medicine’s Glycemic Control eQUIPS Benchmarking Program will enhance the efficiency and reliability of Natividad’s quality improvement efforts and optimize best practices and methods for caring for patients with hyperglycemia.

The eQUIPS Glycemic control data center helps track performance via internal data reports and cross-comparative external benchmark performance reports.

Benchmark reports are generated every six months that compare Natividad with all participating hospitals. These reports allow Natividad to compare glycemic control performance between like hospitals and help prioritize problem areas.  The reports can also provide rationale for supporting a glycemic control program and assist Natividad in setting goals based on opportunities for improvement.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed and approved this agreement as to form, and the Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved as to payment provisions. The agreement has also been reviewed and approved by NMC’s Finance Committee and by its Board of Trustees on May 8, 2020.

FINANCING:

The cost for this agreement is $7,500 of which $5,000 is included in the Fiscal Year 2019-20 Adopted Budget. Amounts for remaining years of the agreement will be included in those budgets as appropriate.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

This agreement with the Society of Hospital Medicine facilitates the enhanced operational performance of Natividad Medical Center. This provides NMC with the additional support it needs to be able to provide reliable and quality patient care thus improving the health and quality of life for patients with hyperglycemia.
