a. RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with WASP Barcode Technologies  for $15,510.00, to provide software as a service to manage and maintain the physical inventory data for the term of 3 years upon execution thru June 30, 2023, including nonstandard liability provisions; and

b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to this Agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($1,551.00) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

This agreement provides access and use of an asset management software called WASP, a proprietary software as a service.  The software will be used by Monterey County Department of Social Services (DSS) to manage and support the computer and software assets distributed throughout DSS.  DSS will upgrade its existing on-premise WASP product to be compliant with security updates and to remotely manage and track all computing assets of the Department’s mobile workforce.

 

The maintenance agreement includes technical support for the Asset Cloud platform for problem escalation, software updates, and virtual computing components necessary for the service and maintenance of the system.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Information Technology Department has reviewed and approved this agreement. The Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this agreement. Contracts/Purchasing cannot approve nonstandard agreements. County Counsel has approved the agreement as to form. 

 

FINANCING:

This Agreement is funded by Social Services Federal, State, and Sales Tax realignment funds. Sufficient revenues and appropriations are included in Social Services (SOC005) FY2020-21 Modified Budget.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

This Agreement correlates to the Administration’s Strategic Initiatives adopted by the Board of Supervisors by allowing the Department to improve the quality of tracking assets for departmental and inventory requirements.
